Epoxy resin may seem intimidating at first, but it's easy to use if you follow the right preparation steps! Let's take a look at ArtResin's epoxy resin.

WHAT IS EPOXY RESIN ?
Epoxy resin is a translucent polymer made of two components: resin and hardener. By mixing them in equal parts, a chemical reaction takes place, allowing the resin to harden. Resin can also be coloured!

HOW DO I USE IT ?
Preparing your workspace and your artwork is an essential step. Make sure you work with resin in a well-ventilated, humidity-controlled environment. Furthermore, your artwork must be completely dry before working with the resin.

Once this step is complete, you need to prepare your mixture. Wearing gloves, pour equal volumes of resin and hardener into the appropriate recipient. It's important to read each resin vendor's recommendations to respect the suggested quantities.

Then mix for at least 3 minutes, scraping down the sides of the recipient. Bubbles may form at this stage, but we'll control them a little later.

Now you're ready to pour your mixture onto your creation! You have about 45 minutes to distribute the product before it begins to harden. If you want to cover your work completely, pour the mixture into the center and use a spreader to distribute the resin over the entire surface to be covered.

This is where we eliminate any air bubbles that may have formed during the process. We suggest you use the artist's torch to pop the bubbles. This means holding the tool a few centimetres from the surface while moving constantly.

It's important to cover your artwork to protect it from dust and other residues. Within 24 hours, the resin will be hard to the touch, and after 72 hours, it will be completely dry.

Above all, don't forget to clean your tools: wipe everything down with a paper towel immediately after use. Then rub them with denatured alcohol and wipe them dry again.
